Cross in hand sussex, another stadium with sixties fame after much hard work by enthusiastic volunteers the stadium was carved out of a near impossible location and worked extremely well for a few years when a concrete oval track was layed and reopened on july 20th 1969, whilst all of this was happening there were folk in and around the cross in hand village determined that it should not succeed, the local council refused spedewoth planning permission an appeal and an expensive court case failed to keep the track open, the final meeting being held on august 6th 1972.
